It started in 2010 at the old Erie Street Market, and the first year cleared, in the words of Lexi Hayman-Staples — who has been with it since the beginning — "little more than a few hundred bucks and a small crowd." Sixteen summers later it shuts a mile of Adams Street on a Saturday at noon. That is the whole story of the thing, and it is worth saying plainly rather than dressing up: a small event in a market building became one of the few days a year when downtown Toledo is unambiguously full.
